    Question about Atlas Straps

Disclaimer: I'm new to this so please be gentle. I have only slept in my hammock a handful of times, but am camping this weekend. My SBP hammock came with pretty cheap straps that I was worried would cut into a tree, so I bought some Atlas Straps. I have been very happy with them: Easy to hang, easy to adjust the hammock, and easy on the tree. My question is that as I have read through the equipment that the rest of you are using, I haven't seen anyone who lists using these straps. I am wondering why? Is there some inherent design issue with them? I am 6'5" and weigh 250 pounds and didn't feel like there was much sag with the straps. As I was evaluating my equipment, I have obvious deficiencies in the TQ/UQ area, and am using an inexpensive hammock, but I had hopes that the straps and tarp I was using were of higher quality.

    Thanks

They work fine. Very convenient but a little more bulky than what most of the experienced folks use. My kids use them with their ENOs.

Much better than the slap straps. The Atlas straps don't have the same stretch issues and will work fine.

I was a big fan of them until I discovered how easy cinch buckles are to use, now they're going to be my backup straps

I had no problems with them at all, and I liked how easy there were to set up and adjust.

They're great for easy, no fuss setups. I use mine regularly, even though I have several other options. Lightest? No. Space saving? No. Simple and sturdy? Absolutely. Just remember, as with any strap, to check for wear and damages. Congrats on your elevation evolution, my friend!

They are super simple, great idea. I got some readystraps for the price of the cheaper ENO slap straps thats why I went with them. I know some that use them and they are just fine. I would not hesitate to use a set if I had them.

There's nothing wrong with them except we can get lighter straps for less money. Since you have them already, keep using them until you need to count grams or you wear them out (if ever).

Those where the first straps my son and I used with our WalMart hammocks for boyscout summer camp. they worked great and I'm like you at 240 lbs and was in hammock for a week with zero problems from them.
I just ordered Dutch Buckles and Amsteel from Dutchware.com to make Whoopie slings for myself to use with my new HH deep jungle XL but my son wants to keep using his Atlas Straps with his new HH ultrilite Backpacker and a binner cause he likes them that much.
I will keep mine to use with my walmart when some one needs to borrow one or just need extra.
    happy hanging my friend
