I'll be bringing some tarps and cordage as well.
Sweet, I think the tarps were more effective than the parachute. But maybe my perception will change without having one. It sure did look cool at night though.
We were in Duluth this weekend and there was only about 4" there. This is where I keep track of the snow cover up there, looks like about 6" now.

So will I need snow stakes? Do you folks use them and in how deep of snow are they required?
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
I've never used snow stakes so I can't speak to them; however, I've had luck using resources in the woods to stake the tarp. A long log buried and left to sinter has worked as have long sticks or branches stuck into the snow and allowed to sinter before tying out. A well chosen spot may also have convenient trees, bushes, or other naturally occurring tie outs nearby.
If you get stumped there will be plenty of people there to help you. Just bring plenty of cordage so you can get creative.
Coming in from KC so have not seen any snow stakes in the area. Any suggestions as to where to pick some up from?
