Anyone getting their first real cold hang in this weekend? It's 7 degrees Fahrenheit right now in Northern Minnesota, I'm contemplating spending the night in the backyard...
Tomorrow night for this happy camper!
I was out last weekend. Low of about -10C. Slept toasty warm.
Looking at the forecast for the twin cities and this coming Wednesday and Thursday lows are supposed to be below zero!

Went up North last weekend (14-15-16) with a climbing friend to scout the ice conditions and do some backpacking. To our surprise there was plenty of ice to climb!!!
Can you see our chosen spot to hang? The trip was super cold and we both realized we are not yet acclimated to single digit temps, haha. But we slept warm and got super excited for the new climbing season.
The rivers arent frozen enough to walk on yet and snow cover was even less than here in the cities but either way winter is here!
This will be my first time attending. Not sure so I thought I would ask before packing it. What are the feelings about chainsaws? Would one be wanted or does everyone like to stick with cutting up the wood with bow saws?
I would leave it at home. They like to be temperamental in extreme cold, and operating one knee deep in snow is just waiting for an accident.
And using a bow saw gets the body heat up!
Agreed - hand saws are better for several reasons. Safety, noise, warmth, and general ambiance.
Not a problem folks, will leave it in the shed!
