Holy crap, January is coming up fast... I'm probably in for the FBH, should know for sure in the next week. Vampire, I might try to meet you up along the WI-MI border to share a bit of the drive & gas...
Ok, Sorry guys I've been working my butt off lately so I haven't been keeping up with the forums but I would just like to update ya'll on my plans for this weekend.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FBH will be at the same location as last year (Finland) with the same parking area.
Hillbilly and I are going up this weekend to the Nasty Weather Hang in Silver Bay. We will be leaving fairly early on Sunday morning and heading out to the camp site to gather some firewood and prep the site as needed. If there is anyone (in the TC metro, or north) that has a chainsaw that we could borrow, that would help a bunch. We only have Sunday to prep, but we are also planning on heading up on Wednesday January 14th to uncover said chopped wood and pack a nice trail back off the snowmobile trail.
Let me know if anyone would be able to help out with that saw.
Alright guys, should I supplement my full length 0* U/Q with a 3/4 or a another full length UQ?
I'll have a pad to supplement the feet. I'm leaning towards the 3/4 because it's better down and more packable.
Thoughts,
I have no way to test at the expected temps but my 0* has gotten close by itself.
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
Excellent, thank you.
I think basically I'm just gonna have my 20*gear under my 0* both top and bottom, a Z lite pad, uqp and top cover for my sleep system.
Should have a wool anorak completed and a few other additions to supplement my tried tested day time gear.
Other than that I'm still not exactly sure how much and what kinds of food to bring. Any suggestions...other than toaster struddle

Do stoves (alky) work ok or does cooking need done on a fire?

A stove will work, but there is always a big fire going.
So really no need to pack the stove setup just cook pot or two.
