I dont think this has been mentioned, but you could possibly just run your hammock suspension through a section of pvc pipe. I don't know if the mice can grip the pipe, but if they cannot, they will fall off before reaching your hammock.
I agree with Bushwhacker. I've seen small, grey field mice jump quite high to climb into things and they can squeeze into amazingly small holes. I had one get into the locked and sealed trunk of my Honda Ridgeline while we car camped in NH last year. It chewed through a sealed plastic bag and my wife's jacket to make a nest. We emptied the trunk and it still got in again and made a nest in leaves that it carried in from outside. I had to buy poison to put in the trunk to finally get rid of it. None of the traps I used ever worked.
Now that cold weather is on the way they are looking for a place to put up for the winter. I'd would probably bring everything in for a month or two so they move on to someplace else. They are very persistent.

Yes, mice can jump, and yes they can climb most suspensions.
Were you leaving your insulation in place daily before the first incident? Or were you setting it up hours before going to bed?
If so, you need to also change your set-up times to only putting the insulation on as your going to bed. Also, you may want to completely take down the rig, tarp and all daily, just as if hiking to a new camp each day.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
A Terrier dog can also be a wicked good rodent killer. We had a terrier who took on the challenge presented by our cat. Thus was born the "Great Mouse Wars". My wife would wake up early to go to work and find numerous mice lined up in the dining room. I mean side by side with a space between the two groups. One group had the heads and paws bitten off. The other were intact. This is no joke. These two critters were keeping score and presenting the scoreboard for inspection. Unfortunately our terrier stopped the carnage when the cat had to be put down. But she loved chasing them mice in the woods.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
