Hello from just south of the North Woods!

Coming from the wonderfully cold state of Wisconsin, Hello!

I'm not so new to hammocking, but I more new to the forum 'lifestyle'. Not so good with a lot of this technical term stuff, but everyone has a different strength! I have a decent amount of knowledge from my own few years of camping in trees (mostly cold-weather) and I hope I can pass along some of my own knowledge to a new/younger hammocker. Nothing like passing on some info to the up-and-coming!

Thanks for those who participate in welcoming! I see there are some diligent repliers out there!

Hey Wisco! Welcome to the forums. I recently just moved from WI to MN. Hopefully you'll make it out to the Frozen Butt Hang this January.

Another greeting from the north woods. Look forward to your cold weather camping experiences, still working up to it in a hammock.

Perfect! It's easy enough, just make sure you get something to insulate all sides!
    Thanks

Welcome from just South of, just South of the Northwoods!! Plenty of room for sharing and learning on this forum.

Please share your setup. I'm intrigued as to how the t**t footprint tarp and paracord suspension are working out for you. Always nice to explore other options.

    Sure thing goobie!

Tent footprint is a 6 or 9 person marmot, picked her up for 40 bucks on sale. Nice and square, adequate coverage, not too heavy, and best of all... Not too expensive! Much better than the Walmart tarps I've tried... And well used ones at that! Paracord is working very well! Takes a while to stretch out, but a 6 foot anchor with a bunch of loops in it makes for the easiest setup that i've found! It's as good as disposable too, if you need an extra knot, put it in! Lighter and less bulky than the 20 of webbing I used to haul in. Learned from an older camper who was out the army, maybe it was something he learned there...

I prefer to try and forge my own path or at least take one that is less traveled. A little funky, but I go for functionality.

    Have a good one!
