On the last hike my wife and I used kids arm floaties with a shirt around them. Just cut the flap at the bottom then you have a nice little pillow and in the morning let the air out and roll it up. Packs very small.

Here is one for NO pillows! I dont find it comfortable. a pillow just moves my neck up too much. There is enough slope in the hammock to feel like my head is supported. If I was sleeping on a flat surface (tent or camper-trailer) then I do prefer a pillow.

Here's another FlexAir user. However, I use it more to prop my head up for reading. I don't use it for spleeping. Instead I prefer to have the hammock pitched so my head is a little higher than the rest of me, to prevent acid reflux during the night.

I'm definitely a pillow user. I don't get truly comfortable without it. As to what kind, I ttied the FlexAir type and wasn't really happy with it. There's something about sleeping with my head on air that I just can't get used to. So now, I use a Therm-a-Rest compressible camp pillow. Doesn't weigh much at all, but I'm more than happy to carry it just for the comfort factor. I tried going without it on an overnighter back in the spring, using my fleece under my head instead. It just wasn't the same.

I use close in an old pillow case I cut down to 1/4 its size with a draw string on it.
I don't use a pillow or a pillow substitute in hammocks. Never have, never felt any need. In beds, I use a pillow of significant size, so it's just different in a hammock.
I have used both a foam backpacking pillow ( don't know the brand) that has an air bladder in it so it is compressible. But it is often to much. Most often I use a light weight fleece sack ( Thermarest? not sure) into which I put small amounts of clothing. I have used this under my neck in my HH and my Claytor. This usually works pretty good, though I am more likely to actually need it when on my side.
However, if using a JRB BMBH, which is SO flat, I generally prefer a good sized pillow. Either the foam pad pillow from above or a stuff sack with clothing. Though the need for a pillow can be minimized if I am far enough towards the head end so that my head is slightly on the end caps.
A NO vote for pillow in a hammock, I usually have enough sag that my head is already higher.
Depends on the season.
I don't usually use anything in the warmer months because I don't have anything extra that is soft. When it gets colder out, I'll bunch-up my fleece or down jacket under my neck and use it as a pillow. This is actually more about insulation under my head and neck than it is about comfort.
