So I looked around and couldn't find an exact answer so I figured I would just ask. I was going to install eye bolts into the 6x6's I have in my backyard and was wondering the best way to suspend my hammock from them. I have a WBBB 1.7 DL w/ adjustable webbing and didn't know if I could clip the carabiner right to the eyelet or if I have to use the webbing and tie a knot. Which would be the safest method? I weight about 165 and I don't think anyone over 200 will ever be in the hammock.

I have eye bolts in my trees on my property as I hang in the same spots all the time. I hook climbing carabiners that are attached to my whoopies right to them. They are 3/8th and could not be more solid.
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.

Yep, carabiners to the eye bolts will work fine.
Or, if there is a little gap where the eye bolt closes you could just slip the loop of the webbing in and skip the carabiner.

Or, you could just loop the webbing around the 6x6 like you would a tree. Just need to be sure it doesn't slip down.

Even though the webbing has strength to spare, any knot will weaken it some. the knot would be less desirable than either other method.

Will the carabiners from warbonnet be strong enough or should I buy something else?

I've done straps through eyebolts when I was playing around with different hardware, but now I usually just clip the whoopies direct with climbing 'biners -- quicker and easier. I've hung my 200 lbs bulk many nights with no problems.

Carabiners work just fine for this. So would a soft shackle.

The first pair of carabiners from WB were marked 1100 lbs. I have a second pair that I got recently but they are not marked. They are provided by Warbonnet for the purpose of hammock suspension so I am sure they are rated plenty strong enough.

On a related note... if you haven't gotten your eyebolts yet, be sure to get galvanized.
Also, it'll be a lot easier to put them in if you pre-drill first.
    Good luck.

Actually, you should pre-drill the holes (smaller diameter) so you prevent splitting the wood. Galvanized will work, but stainless steel might be better.

I just took a screwdriver/hammer and opened the eye slightly.......then just slip the woopie in there. No need for biners or whatnot
