How to get rid of dead space in posts

Is there a way to do this? Granted I haven't spent a lot of time investigating. Seems like all my posts are huge since the changeover to the new site.

Before I was asked to be a mod I turned off signatures which doubled the number of post that would display per page. Some sigs can be huge.

The amount of empty space in your post is directly related to the amount of information you have entered into your profile, that displays at the left under your user name and avatar, and your signature.

With the skin/theme that the new version of the forum uses, each item (in your case - Join Date, Location, Hammock, Tarp, Post Count) in effect results in a blank line of space in the area where your post goes. Not sure that there's any way around that, at least not using the default forum theme.
