    Question about tarp material

Hello, i made sil-nylon tarp already, and i was thinking to make a tarp from another material, since it's kinda difficult to find sil-nylon fabric in my country. Do you guys can give me recommend of another ultralight and strong material that can i use for making a tarp?

    Thanks before

I've often wondered why no one has tried a no sew light duty tarp made from tyvek.
There are many types of tyvek and that commercial stuff looks pretty tough.
Ever try to tear open a tyvek envelop with your bare hands? I swear it's laminated with fiberglass or something.

I don't think we have Cuben and Tyvek here in Indonesia, but for Polyurethane (PU) coated nylon i found it already.
I bought Tyvek from another country, and yes it's strong enough.
Too bad that we don't have those kind of fabrics in Indonesia . .

Have anyone heard about Biway nylon? Any review from this fabric?

Tarptent makes a Tyvek tent. The reviews say that it's not suited for camping in frequent and heavy rains. It seem to start leaking after a while. Supposedly does fine in drier / sunnier regions. Don't know if you could coat it with silicone.

Plus it's noisy and stiff until you break it in. I'd take pu coated over tyvek anyday.

It can't be any noiser than cuben and at 1/10th the cost.
It would be light duty and disposible.

Is cuban really loud? Because Tyvek is crazy loud. I made a groundsheet out of it for my *tent* a while back. I woke the wife up spreading the stuff out on the floor. I couldn't believe how loud that stuff was. It softens up after a while though.

I don't think cuben fiber is loud - louder than silnylon or PU-coated nylon, but definitely not as loud as Tyvek. I experimented with Tyvek tarps before deciding that I wasn't in the market for a "light duty and disposable" tarp.

I believe shug did a compare contrast segment with it raining pretty hard in one of his video's.
I always carry earplugs when I take my cuben tarp and use them if it starts rain.
If you have any experience with tarps made from spinn it's very similar.

EDIT- WayaOutdoor sorry I got your topic off track. Since you don't have access to Cuben or Tyvek it's kind of silly debating it.
I've never heard of "Biway nylon" Do you have any spec's on it.
