Completed this section of the 4 day coastal walk back in April.....
Tidal river crossing to deal with first up....it's all in the timing.
Before & after shots.
Layne was here....this artwork caught my eye as I wandered along the high tide mark.
Further along, I surprised an eagle, slap bang in the middle of the path,
it flew off in a panic leaving behind it's meal of freshly caught Bandicoot.
Solitude...the only footprints were my own.
Washed up debris....take a seat & stay awhile.
My turn around point. Wooli Wooli river crossing, too deep, wide & fast flowing to cross.
Daylight fading fast, I back tracked quick smart & struggled to find two suitable trees with beach frontage.
My headlamp lit a small circular patch of sand in front of me while foam filled waves broke in the darkness.
Spotted a ramshackled tree house made out of flotsam & jetsam....just a uneven platform decorated with shell wind chimes, looked good to me after a long day on soft sand & clambering over a rocky shoreline.
Under torchlight, I spread my insulated hammock over the hard boards, snuggled under half a tarp
and watched/ listened to the breakers roll in.
Mozzies whined all night, but the built in fly net kept them at bay.
Feeling like a castaway, i woke to this morning view....
Breaky......shared with a cheeky local.
Tired of waiting for the tidal river to drop, I waded across anyway....carefully....back to my car & civilization.
Pounding waves, salty sea spray, rotting seaweed...sea eagles, ospreys, wallaby's, crabs, fish, rock pools...
Enjoyed this little adventure.
