How are folks transporting those 10' conduits that have cars? Lowes and Home Depot will only cut wood for you. They won't cut metal conduit and 10' length won't fit in my vehicle.

1.5 conduit works fine, just mark 4 sides and tap a little with a hammer.... Good to go

I guess luck was on my side two said no but found one Lowes store the would cut electrical conduit. What he used is a piper cutter not very long to cut 2 pieces. If this was not case I was ready to spend yes they cost for a one or two tme cut so find someone who has one handy. Once cut metal walls crimp inward slightly so a circular file will take care of this issue. Have your plug ready. Thought all was fine popped the plug into the pip would not move. Easy fix another pipe or pvc and pop the plug from the opposite side. So it's important get the hole completely smooth like the original.

I've checked a few other lumber yards around me and this seems to be the case.

Okay, the saga continues. I wanted to try to get the ridge runner hanging higher so I attached the carabiners directly to the webbing and then to the loop on the hammock stand. It obviously changed the angle, and when I got in the hammock the whole Ridge conduit bent

and put me on the ground. I weigh 230 so that should not have been an issue. I bought new conduit, had it cut, and went back to my original way of suspending. Everything seemed fine but I'm still a little nervous. I haven't tried the Clark hammock yet hopefully it will be okay. What did I do wrong?

It sounds like you decreased the angle of hang. This multiplies the load across the top rail. Check out the load calculator on my site. It's the same as the load on trees. The tighter you pull the hammock, the more the multiplier goes up.

Guitarman, you had a 14' rail, split in two? Did it bend at the joint or the rail itself? Just curious.

    The calculator is cool.
I plan to use a 2-piece top rail.

Q: Where do we find the load rating for the top rail, for two 6.5' pieces utilizing one connector in the middle?
Knowing that would help determine a safety margin with the other variables.

I don't know that as conduit isn't rated for load.
