Maybe I used the wrong terminology.
The calculator shows sheer force applied to the top rail. Do we know a safe amount of force before the top rail fails?
I plan to hang at the recommended angle to minimize the force, but thought it would be good to know the safety range.
Understood if the conduit is not rated this way, was curious if there has been any testing to help determine this?
I love the kit. Just asking.

The yoda, the conduit bent about 5 or 6 inches from the connector on each side.
Tato, I'm sure the angle was less than 30 so it was putting more stress on the top rail. 2 more questions: will hurt to have the foot end a few inches higher than the head end?
Will it hurt to have 7 foot legs instead of 6?

I love the kit. I'm just trying to get it dialed in.

Btw, I'm lying in my Clark nx250. Good angles and feeling stable but I would like to raise the foot end a few inches.
Oh yeah, I'm retired so I have time to fiddle with all of this stuff

I use my ridge runner with the foot a few inches higher and 7ft legs should be fine.

Finally have mine up! Ended up having a hard time finding 2x2s that are 1.5" and aren't crap, it took three stores and one return.

What brand of sand paper was that? I worked very nicely but I need more. I finished the one set but still need to do the second set. They are super tight so need a bunch of sanding.
I also still need to figure out how to get 10' conduit home. I haven't found anywhere that will cut them for me and not crazy about jousting with 10' conduit. lol

    You got sandpaper too?
Was it some kind of special paper? Mine arrived sans sandpaper. I plan to get my supplies and have the stand together this weekend, sounds like getting the conduit cut will be the biggest hurdle.

The Yoda, if you buy from Home Depot, go to the plumbing section. They may cut the conduit for you there. Be sure and have them ream it out so it will fit. Worth a try. Another option is to buy from an electrical supply company. Many of them have special saws to cut the conduit. No reaming needed. Just a few strokes with a file will remove any burrs and the fit will be great.

Ask me how I know these things

I cut mine in Lowe's with a hand pipe cutter they let me use one time and they cut it on the pipe machine in plumbing the other time.

I think I'm done. I bought two more pieces of conduit for the ridge pole and had them cut to 6 1/2 feet each. I'm staying with the 6 ft. legs (claymark select pine from Home Depot). I've hung my ridge runner and Clark nx250. The angles are near perfect and the height is fine. Now, the big question is, why didn't I listen to Bryan (TATO) in the first place?
I guess part of the fun is in the journey

    What a great stand!

I haven't read all the posts but everyone is talking about using conduit for the pole in between the stands. Couldn't black pipe be used instead, this way it could be in sections with threads on them. Makes transporting them easier. Just a thought. Can threaded black pipe be used with the stand brackets?
