I'm leaving chicago later today and heading to the Red River Gorge area. Someone please recommend an over night loop for me of about 10 -15 miles or so. Thanks

Grays arch trailhead, Rough Trail all the way to the Sheltowee, Koomer Ridge to Buck Trail, then pinch-em tight to the trailhead. Make sure you have some good topos, you will see a good bit of water.

.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

The Red River Gorge can be unforgiving if you are not prepared for it. It is fairly well marked, this particular trail I showed you will give you your moneys worth in hiking features.... there is a reason it is called Rough Trail. A lot of people have been hurt however, and I always consider it a requirement to be safe... if nothing else, with a good map, you can determine if you have gone off trail.
This link takes you to some pretty good topos, that are printable. Call me cautious, but I still take my maps there and I have been hitting RRG for 25 years.

This almost the exact route I took a month ago. Here's a link to my trip report. You will have a great time!
