    Stuffing Cuban Fiber Tarp

How do you folks go about stuffing your cuban fiber tarps? I don't know why but for me it's really difficult to get the tarp back into the stuff sack. I know some people just stuff their tarps back in but it's impossible for me because it doesn't fit at all that way. When I try folding it up instead even then it's a really tight fit and hard to squeeze back in. Does anybody have a good method to folding the tarp? Also is it safe to store the tarp into the stuff sack with my dutchware stingerz still attached or should I worry they might cause unnecessary abrasions?

    Thanks

I use stingers on mine as well. I use stakeskins leave the stingers attached and find stuffing it in the sack with the snakskins on not difficult at all.

I use snake skins while backpacking, rolling up tarp as it goes inside of skins. For storing, light folds or roll. Cuben Fiber does not stuff well like other tarps.

I gave up trying to stuff my cuben tarp and got some snake skins. If you order snake skins ask that they be made a little larger around than if they were for a same size silnylon tarp, or they will be very tight and hard to fold.

Folding any tarp seems difficult in the field - I wouldn't even try it. I've always rolled my CF tarp up to the ridgeline, then roll it up lengthwise and wrap the suspension around it. I recently got some CF snakeskins, which makes the tarp a bit bulkier but it still fits in the stuffsack. it just might take a little longer to get it in there.

Last year I made a larger cuben fiber stuff sack for my HG Cuben tarp. Makes getting that tarp back in the bag a whole lot easier

Mountain Goat mesh snake skins for me. I just pull up tie-downs and Figure-8 all the tie downs (4) ...then roll it up and pull on the snake skins, down the ridge lines. Then, take down one side (I use Dutch flyz, or wasps or....), figure-8 those and tuck into the pockts on the snake skins. Then, into the outside pocket on the pack.

Yea especially with the wind blowing. It looks like getting some snake skins will be the best option for me. It just takes a lot longer then I would like to get the tarp folded up and back into it's small stuff sack. I'll probably go with some mesh version and hopefully they'll be easier to stuff back into the bag.

Pretty much the same thing I have been doing since I started using the cuben tarp too. This technique eliminates air pocket issues.

I use snake skins too for my cuben tarp. It's fast and I don't fold up the skins in any way. I just stuff them inside my pack if dry. If wet they go into the big outside pocket on back of pack.
