    Blackbird with travel sock

So I have a BlackBird 1.1 dbl, and that sock thingy (can't find it on the site) that makes kind of a pod of fabric around the hammock.

Has anyone got any tips on its use with a Blackbird?

The sock does provide added warmth. I caution using it in deep cold because its not that breathable. I used it once on a winter trip and had it closed all the way. I had a lot of condensation issues and so the next night I left the zipper open for ventilation. Even with the zipper open the sock still worked at keeping the wind off my UQ. I found it handy to have on one late fall trip to add some warmth on a rainy and cool night. Unfortunately you can't use the tie outs on the BB when the sock is on.

I just got one for my WBBB. It seems like it is a bit snug around the bottom with a quilt. I have a new UGQ 0 degree UQ in all it's fluffy goodness. It is snug to have the quilt inside the sock but it works good if the quilt is outside. Any thoughts?

Is this what your talking about? I almost got this but it's for the BB not the BB XLC.

    Hi Sharpster,
you unzip the zipper and poke the hammock lines out each end and then hang your hammock normally.
    Here's a couple in use. A pictures worth 1000 words :-)

Pay attention to the velcro. It damaged the fabric on the ends of my Blackbirds. It's not a damage that will cause the hammocks to fail, but it looks ugly. I don't know yet if I'm going to keep my WB winter sock and take off the velcro to replace it with draw cords, or if I make a clone with draw cords and sell the WB sock. I have a WL bug sock that uses draw cords. I much prefer this solution. Other than that I love the WB sock. I added a piece of string to the ends and attach it to the hammock suspension to keep the velcro from ripping open and sliding down the hammock ends (thereby creating even more damage... It's pretty useless for keeping the sock stretched out).

Hi hutzelbein, Good to know. Is your wbbb made with 1.1 or 1.7 fabric?

And have you damaged both using the travel sock?

It seems I remember you posting a pict of this damage a year or so ago but maybe it was someone else.
