Newbie questions from HammockForums' newest member!

If the down jacket were full length, that might work... I don't know that down gear is truly additive as each layer compresses the one under somewhat. I really like the look of Nunatuk gear, especially the Backcountry Blanket, but my budget is more DIY and JRB sized. And the JRB quilts are multi use, too.

I use two JRB Hudson River quilts - they work as top quilt or bottom quilt, but they are full length. If I were counting ounces I would get a Yeti and take one of the JRBs. I'm still considering throwing together a DIY Yeti style with some synthetic insulation I have.

Any California hanger is good news to me.

Whitney is totally understandable - they have so many people trudging up there, if they all left a pile on the way the whole mountain would be nothing but one big pile...

Thinkpol - I was just out backpacking in the Eastern Sierra's, McGee Creek, and the nights were not an issue. It never got below mid-50's and I was plenty warm with my thermarest-3 plus GoLite 20 at 11,000ft. Now if you're planning on going anytime after mid-Sept.... it's a different story.

Btw, I had to ask... 25miles per day!?!?! Seriously??

25 miles per day is a relaxed pace.
I may actually go for the record next year.
