    Concerns about topquilt

I am interested in getting a topquilt....my concern is with a down topquilt (HG Burrow 20) not sure about the hassle factor of care/cleaning and with a synthetic (AHE...Owyhee) not sure about packability.....Although, if I did go that route my wife could use it at some point because she has a down allergy....before anyone suggests buying both.....not doing that right now. Any input is appreciated.

if your wife has a down allergy buy the synthetic ? realize it wont pack as small

as time goes on maybe buy yourself a nice down one then you and your wife have nice top quilts

first get a quilt for "the both of you" then when she has made the commitment to the synthetic, ninja order a down quilt for yourself. Thats how i do it, happily married for 23 years

If I'm not mistaken, the Hyperdry down UGQ uses is hypoallergenic. Also, down definitely packs down smaller, and in my opinion, is not difficult to care for.

That's probably the right way to go....you'd think I wouldn't have to even think about this at this point....also, coming up on 23 years

All down is hypoallergenic naturally. It's the dust and mites that accumulate IN the down

There are plenty of people who have successfully used a down sleeping bag for decades. The best advice I've ever been given on the subject is - "Know Thyself"

If you are generally hard on your equipment, careless, etc. You may want to opt for the synthetic. If you are fairly careful and mindful of your surroundings and the anticipated conditions, go with down. You won't be sorry....EVER!
