Hiking Dog Molly and I got a little lost last weekend when we decided to try and take a "shortcut" back to the trailhead. It didn't work out and was more like a long cut. We were never truly lost as I never reached the point where I couldn't backtrack but definitely wasn't sure where I was since there were significantly more roads out there than were on my map.
We started at Hwy 10 and went all the way to Red Bluff Branch. We saw the in progress bridge at Red Bluff Branch which is where we left the trail. Conditions were pretty good except for the thorns which were terrible near the river. Spiders were everywhere and even had to full on stop at one point because I had so much web in my eyes I had to pull out. We saw three coyotes with 2 right at Red Bluff Branch. We also ran into a ~4ft rat snake which I've always been scared about running into snakes with hiking dog. This was the first one she's ever run into by a miracle and it went without incident(can be seen in the video).
