    DIY emergency blanket UQ mod

I took one of those 2 person emergency blankets with the reflective backing and made a quick UQ mod to hang directly under my hammock, then use my summer UQ eno Ember as the outer layer. 41 this morning, had no issues sleeping.

taking it out again this coming weekend on a jeep outing, will post some pic , should be a bit cooler .. down by the river, so will give a more detailed report with pics when i return. mod was super easy, found it on these forms.

dont get me wrong, im shopping for a 25 degree UQ atm , but the emergency blanket i wanted to test to see how good it was/is for the cost and.. well maybe something that can work in a pinch thats really light/cheap and compact. this is what im currently looking for.. http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/s...iver_Long.html

Sounds like a quick fix to a potential problem. I'd love to hear an update after your Jeep trip.

The only downside to the space blankets is they tear. And shred. Just dont touch it and you are fine. Or look at it funny.

The Space Blanket also makes a great moisture barrier, so it might be a good idea so you don't sweat into your TQ in the Winter too.

Not sure if the temps will get low to really be a good test, but i want to at least test setup etc.

I will be layering it. hammock (eno jungle Nest) ---> DIY-emergency-blanket ----> eno Ember ---> UQ protector. i have a simple summer bag to act as a TQ and an extra blanket if needed. leaving this afternoon, so i wont be posting for a few days until i get back.
