Our trip started out a little wet, but turned out to be a great night. LazyBee and I met up at the Burrell's Ford parking lot and hiked up the trail in a light rain. Some big trees were over the trail, but we managed to get over/under them without falling on our butts or off the trail. We set up beside the bridge and Skinnys11 and Freehome tracked us down later in the morning.
We spent the afternoon eating, napping, talking gear, visiting with some curious hikers, and gathering wood. Even though the wood was a little wet, we managed to get enough sticks to make a magnificent fire with the help of some of LazyBee's alcohol. Skinnys11 wasn't able to stay because he had to get home to his dogs, so he left us before it got too dark. We kept checking to see if the moon was rising and when it did the full moon was bright and just awesome. The only annoying thing of the night was a dog in a neighboring camp that barked and barked and barked.
We all slept in, but I think I was the last one up at 10 a.m. I had oatmeal with some of LazyBee's tasty dehydrated strawberries, packed up and hiked back to the cars. All in all, a great overnight. Thanks LazyBee for organizing this and Skinnys11 and Freehome, nice to meet you. I'll work on getting LazyBee's photos up by tomorrow.
