One of the items on my bucket-list that is, to date, unfulfilled.
Pretty sure I'd have to be forcibly removed once I'm hanging though.
Trust nobody!
The answer is yes. Remember the various navy's predate camping in hammocks. ;-)) Seems Hennessy designed his heavy duty hammock tarp after a sailing soaking. I am sure there are other examples. As to how, it's along the lines of how to hang in your apartment, every case is different. On a 23 ft sailboat it might be an interesting trick. Where do you have enough clear space?
YMMV

Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)
Forestay to mast. Well, that'd be for relaxing on a sunny day. I have a 27-footer myself, I'd have a hard time to find the space below I think. Although something between the bulkheads perhaps... hmm..

In 1995 on a commercial salmon troller off California I hung a hammock from the boom. I thought this was going to be great. Just laying back, looking up, and waiting for a bite. Unfortunately laying in the hammock made me feel sick immediately. Captain made a few jokes and then had the same thing happen to him. Nowhere on deck to hang it thwartship so home it went. For years I’ve kept my camping gear in it.

Forestay to rearstay and vice versa. 2 hammocks, 1 26' boat. Quite strange really. The boat kinda gimbals underneath you. I couldn't stay asleep as the boat pitched up and down due to the waves I'd always feel as though I was falling in a dream and instantly wake up. Very frustrating.
I'm going to try forestay to mast, just not sure if I'll have enough length to properly hang
use the main halyard snap shackle around the back stay, to hold up one end
& the jib halyard snap shackle holding a continuous loop up/around the mast for the other end
worked on my old McGregor 21, w/ an old mexican hammock
