I have decided to make my own hammock. So I found some ripstop in the 1.9 weight today. I went ahead and purchased 2 4 yard pieces. I am thinking I should have maybe just left it at 1 8 yard, and then doubled it over. Here's the catch. Unfortunately, I am sitting at the 300lb limit right now. I am wondering if any of the people with experience on the larger end of the scale would go with the single ply of 1.9, or double it up for the extra insurance.
Now I went camping a few weekends ago, and spent a couple of nights in a Wallyword special that said it was rated to 300lbs, but I spent a lot of time laying there wondering when I was going to hit the ground.
Any concensus on this? I am thinking the extra 8 ounces (guesstimate) will be worth it and just sew the two 4 yard sections together and go from there.
I might sleep better just knowing I am not on the edge of a weight rating.
