Hey all,
Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a quick question. My name's Norm, and I live just outside of Washington, DC. I'm pretty new to hammock camping, having decided to make the switch after a few recent miserable nights on the ground (that, and viewing Shug's videos, which answered most of the questions I had that were holding me back from making the jump).
At any rate, I'm about to start making a Speer DIY hammock, bugnet and tarp. Instead of using the webbing Ed recommends, however, I've decided to use whoopie slings. I have one issue though.
Ed's directions have webbing attaching to the end of the hammock, with a D ring 12 inches from the end of the hammock to which the bug net line attaches. Question is, should I go ahead and (partially) use this setup, and attach the whoppie slings to the D rings, and go from there to a toggle on my tree straps, or do the whoopie slings actually need to attach to the hammock end?
Sorry if this is unclear, but any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Norm
