I am the Elf.
Niagara Falls was fantastic. It was a very relaxing trip.
Story one: We arrived and the hotel gave us $60 in gift vouchers to use across the street at the Casino. We have never been in a real casino. We have passed through the mini versions of them on cruise ships before but we do not gamble. So we thought this would be different. The $60 has to be played in the slot machines, you cannot just cash it out. So we went through the procedures and got our cards. They then gave us $10 more each to play in the slots since we were also new members. So $80 of house money. The video poker machine we decided to play keep track of the promotional money on each card and as soon as it ran out we cashed out. Short of it was we walked out with $75 of real money for about 30 minutes. I think they give these promotions out us to spend our money there. We we used there money and had a mostly casino paid for fantastic dinner out on Valentines Day.
Story Two: We walked to the overlook of the falls on Wednesday afternoon and the first thing we saw was that there seemed to be an abundance of black squirrels. As we went through the visitors center and out the back on our way to the falls there was an even higher concentration and they were completely comfortable with us walking past them and hardly seemed to notice. On the second day we stopped outside the back doors and the squirrels approached us and acted as if they expected us to feed them. Looking around we realized that they were in fact feed by many people as there were peanut shells scattered about. On Friday before we left we had some left over bagel pieces and as it turns out the little fat squirrels of Niagara Falls will shake hands with you for food. It was pretty cool to interact with these little friendly animals that at home we consider pests.
Story Three: As most of the tourist attractions are closed for the season in the winter at Niagara Falls, the overlook tower is open and free of charge, there are not to many visitors to the region and not a whole lot to do, especially if you don't gamble. Well we had a fantastic time walking around the falls, watching the squirrels, exercising together in the hotel fitness center and just hanging out together, seems like we don't get enough of that. We also got to spent an uncharacteristically large amount of time in our very comfortable king sized bed at the Sheraton at the Falls. By the way, thank you to Raina Roach, the staff person at the hotel who was the friendliest and most helpful hotel employee I have run across in a very long time.
So we should be back to shipping as normal by Monday and I am working now to catch up for all of you that are always so understanding when things get a bit behind.

In response to Story #1
Isn't that great? My family is filled with people who enjoy gambling (not I though, I cling to my money), being in close enough proximity to Atlantic City and Yonkers. The casino in Yonkers used to give "Bridge Bonuses" to us New Jersey folks to get us in to their casino. 15 bucks for free. Well, considering how many gamblers are in my family we all would get bridge bonuses on our cards. My aunt who lives really close to NYC and Yonkers kept all of our cards, and her daughters cards and their friends cards, and would go every week with free 150 bucks or so to play. She would come home with a bunch of money that she had gotten for free. lolol.
Looks like a great trip though, glad you had fun. It was very young when I was last in Niagara Falls and I vaguely remember it, I need to go back.
Your squirrel story reminds me of the pigeons in NYC, they do not care if you step over them!
