I decided to make myself a gathered end hammock out of some 1.9ripstop, blue. I wanted it to be wider than my current Grand Trunk hammock. I made it 60 inches wide and about 120 inched long. Its works fine,except....when I lay in it, there is about 15 inches or so of just floppy material. Even when I lay diagonally. I wonder if its just too wide? I have sewn channels at the top and bottom for my suspension. At first I just used a larks head knot with my whoopie slings. I thought that maybe it was somehow causing the hammock ends to twist or something. Then I made some soft shackles to run through the channels thinking this would correct the issue of the floppy hammock. But I was wrong.
Have any of you DIY-ers had this issue before or am I just crazy?
Thanks in advance!
