I have been hanging for a while now. Most of the places I go are way, way, way back and more often than not their is no trail. Even before I began using a hammock I worked as a guide and placed a premium on gear durability vs weight. I don't mind paying for great equipment as long as the equipment is worth it. That being said, a tarp IMO is one of the most important pieces of gear we use. If you are someone who really gets out there, your weather protection - rain gear, tarp etc. is what keeps you safe when things go bad.
All of that to say, I am looking to upgrade to an extremely lightweight and as bombproof of a tarp as I can. I am looking at these two:

Does anyone have experience with either? I am leaning more towards the Mountain Laurel simply because it is slightly bigger, a touch lighter and a little cheaper but I am open to any advice and suggestions...
