I usually visit the forum in bursts- study etc will do that. The new posts function is just overwhelming, and has stuff from sections of the forum I'm just not interested in. I visit the 3 or 4 forums I like and glance at the new posts bit occasionally to see if there is something interesting in the other forums.
So it's nice to see all of the new posts on one page, and not have to click through to two.

I agree its a bit over run with stickies, but it is just one button to go to page two.
I agree. it would be nice to go to a forum and be able to instantly read the new posts rather than having to scroll down past the bazillion stickies and click on to page 2. The stickies have great information, but that info could be organized differently for a better browsing experience.
I like the idea of having one link for each forum leading to that forum's stickies. It's a lot less inconvenient to have to click that link to get to the stickies than it is to constantly have to scroll and click on to the second page to look at new posts. I read new posts far more often than I read through the stickies.
I like the idea of a subforum for stickies in each forum, but maybe we can come up with a guideline for when a sticky gets moved over from the main page.
30 days inactive (that would move at least 5 stickies from DIY), or maybe X days/weeks/months total on the main forum page.
It does get a little silly with half the page taken up by stickies, some of which have not seen any activity in 6 months.

A thought that wanted further thinking.
A love that wanted re-renewing
