My dynaglide whoppie slings weigh 1.5oz. My huggers weigh 2oz. = 3.5 oz. DG not recommended for individuals over 170. I use trail sticks for toggles.
My tree huggers of 1/2 inch webbing weigh 4 oz, but they are sorta long for big trees. My four foot long whoopies of 4,000 lb spectra weigh .95 oz each, the 2 foot ones weigh .5 each. There is another 14 feet of 4,000 lb spectra to tie it all together and for use on widely separated trees, that weighs 2.2 oz. Since I can tie knots, rings and beeners are options.
I have taken my new whoopie slings (7' max length per side, made with AmSteel Blue 7/64") and 5' straps w/ alum. crossbow shaft toggle and weighed them as compared to my previous suspension (WBBB straps, tri rings, carabiner). My new whoopie sling suspension weighs 4.4 OZ for both sides whereas my old suspension weighed in at 11.0 OZ on the same scale.
That is a savings of 6.6 OZ!

Two 4.5' tree straps - 1.48 ounces
Two 4' dynaglide UCRs - 0.35 ounces
Two 2" toggles made from arrows - 0.07 ounces
Two 12" 550 cord "sleeves" - 0.28 ounces
Total - 2.18 ounces
I guesstimate the max weight is about 200 pounds in the hammock.
stock line/strap susp: 2 straps (5'6" each) 2 lines (7' each) (12.5' length per side)4.0 oz total weight
stock adj web susp (including biners and newer buckles) (14' length per side) 8.7 oz total weight
I like your setup sgt rock. Im just a bit crazy when it comes to length. I used 17 foot of DG for each whoppie sling and 6 foot of webbing for each hugger. That gives me this distance to hang from:
11 + 15 + 12 = around 35 foot when set properly
Yea i want to be able to hang just about anywhere, lol. I would porbably have to stand on something and reach as high as i could though at 35 feet when tying my huggers. My guess is around 8-9 feet high would be about right.
SGT ROCK, I take it you used 12" of paracord to sheathe your slings to protect against abrasion? I only used about 5 inches, and when burned to prevent fray, they melted down to about 4. DO you think that is enough protection(the part touching the hammock is fully covered) or should i put a double amount? It was difficult getting the sling through the sheath anyway, as i had already constructed them beforehand.
