I had a Choinard Pea Pod, years ago, for hanging on a rock face, using pitons and carabiners.
I also used that hammock under the trampoline of my Hobie 16 sailboat.
Now, I am older, the new hammocking looks good to me for the good campsites I had to pass up because of uneven ground.
I would like to try hammock camping with my kayak, as well. I see some very nice places I would like to camp and explore.
I have got a start: Grand Trunk UL Travel hammock, WhoOpie slings and ridgeline.
I have a poncho liner and an on-sale down quilt, I modified. I am looking at tarps.
I would like to make my own gear, unless I can find what I like.
I like the coyote brown hammock I saw, in a thread. Maybe the photo only made it look coyote brown?
I asked, in the thread, but no one responded.
The underquilt also appeared to be coyote brown. If I recall, the OP said the underquilt is coyote brown.
As far as I am concerned, that was a beautiful setup. I haven't settled on a tarp color, but I know I like that hammock and underquilt and mosquito net combination.
I wonder, if I found the fabric, could I have the underquilt made?
I can make a travel hammock.
I am uncertain I could make a lightweight and sturdy tarp.
I have been watching the discussion about a cuben tarp. If coyote brown, I know I want one!
I haven't seen more said about it.
I post, but seldom have a reply, much less, start a conversation.
Is this forum, a bunch of guys who already know each other and go "hang" together?
I don't expect to go on an organized "hang". I just want information, and, a little help now and then.
Some threads are so interesting, I jump in, but hardly anyone responds.
I like making things. It doesn't mean I will.
Many times, I would rather just pay the person who has all the details worked out. Sometimes, I ask to incorporate an idea. That's about it.
I guess, that introduces me.
I have a dot info website ultralightbackpackingonline. info but I am not here doing research.
I want to hammock.
