Nice review!

+1 on stake video. Also liked seeing side by side scale comparison.
Another excellent learning vid.
Just got a set of 8 of these too. I have a set of six Vargo Titanium Shepherds hooks but on my last trip out I was camped on a sandy bench and those tiny little titanium jobbers just couldn't hold on. A pretty strong wind came up and flung every one of my stakes into the underbrush. Ended up having to anchor down the tarp in a strong wind with rocks...in the dark. Not fun.
Great video Arson...straight to the point and well filmed.
I got the Blue clones of the Ground Hog stakes from Backwoods Daydreamer. I've not measured them, but I swear they are lighter than the Ground Hogs. I have a feeling they are a softer aluminum, but all this is speculation as I've not had a chance to use them yet. Lastly, I don't think they use the reflective line, though I intend to swap the line out with some lightweight reflective stuff I have.
Since I have several of the Ground Hogs, I'm also looking to modify them by notching them and drilling some holes in them to lighten them up. I have several spares, so I'll try this on a couple and see how they handle my abuse on and after the drill press.
The groundhogs will still bend, I promise you.
Drilling out stakes? I'd reconsider that as a way to lighten up your pack...
Thanks for the time and effort in this review. I too am considering getting some additions to my stake arsenal. This will help with the decision process.

I've bent two and snapped one in half. In all fairness these are still the best stakes I have ever used. The stake that broke was in hard ground (Frozen hard ground) and I pulled it strait out. I think what happened is it ever so slightly bent when I put it in, the ground froze and the stake broke.
I purchased the GroundHog clones from the Hammock Forums' Store. Haven't had the chance to use them yet, but $2.50 for 2 can't be beat! For that price, you can experiment to your heart's content.
