Way back in the 60's I read a book by an Old Timer who recommended sleeping "in the raw". Stated your body would retain an aura of warmth when getting out to do your business. Tried it on a 0 degree night and he was right!
Of course the aura of warmth only lasted about 3 seconds!!
I THOUGHT GETTING OLDER WOULD TAKE MUCH LONGER.
I just get out of the hammock and go. It makes me appreciate the warmth of my quilts when I return. And, like Shug said, I like star gazing, even if it's momentary. In summer, I like to stay out a bit on clear nights. Experiencing the cold, maybe seeing stars, is all part of what I'm trying to do: that is, connect with nature. Plus, knowing me, if I tried a bottle in the hammock, I'd probably be sleeping in my nature the rest of the night

"Life is a Project!"
and I totally agree with you. I can safely say that I've mastered the "fud" and can stand behind a tree like the guys
What I can't do is... go while laying in my hammock.
I will continue to get up. Lucky for me, I usually don't have to get up at night. Although this is directly propurtional to how cold it is and how much it's raining. The colder and the more rain, the more I will need to get up. Beautiful summer night... I sleep right through it.

Such as relieving myself while lying in my hammock.
Pee bottle in a tent? Kneel, go, no problem.
Pee bottle in a hammock? Stand, go, no problem.
But I just don't have the intestinal fortitude to even try it lying down. The repercussions of failure are too great.

My thoughts exactly. After all, it doesn't matter if it works 99 times out of 100.The repercussions of failure are too great.
Of course, maybe that's what a Backup-Hammock is for
White Tropicana orange juice bottle with a larger mouth.
Kinda get to the edge of the hammock and do what needs to be done.
If you don't feel real stable, put one leg down.
Empty the jug away from everybody later.
(Nice thing about the white plastic bottle is that it is not real obvious what it contains.)

I have used a wide mouthed bottle in a tent, but it is very dangerous as a woman - socks have gotten wet
I must get one of those FUD things!
