Great video! Almost makes me want to give bridge a shot.
Any chance of some more in-depth instructions on making those tree straps?

I made a mockup using an old tablecloth, some cord and some pins. I think I want to shorten the spreader at the foot to 32" and narrow the hammock material there to 40 inches. That looks like a good lay to me. New 2D graphic:

Grizz, love the lightweight hammock! I should be done with my first bridge by the end of the week!!! But im a little stuck and have some questions. Are you still using 28" for you side suspension triangle length? Also would the length of the ridgeline be shortened due to the shortened distance between spreader bars?
Thanks, Cole
Hi Cole--
since the ridgeline goes from apex to apex of the suspension triangles, and the spreader bars come in closer, then yes the ridgeline will shorten. Two main advantages of the the recessed spreaders : (1) bring the spread closer to the shoulders, makes it flatter for a given spreader bar length and fabric width, and (2) reduces minimum tarp ridgeline length needed to get the bridge covered.
My personal rule of thumb for side suspension triangle is 80% of the distance from pole tip to triangle apex. So that works out to a finished distance of 29 inches, more or less. I'd recommend longer sides for heavier occupants, if only because I know what compression forces my 36" Easton 0.625" spreaders will take, and want to stay close to that.
good luck with the hammock! The tricky bit on these recessed spreader bar models is getting the piece "past" the spreader to be level with the rest of the hammock. If there's another bridge hammock video left in me, it would be to address that issue.
