The camping hammock lends luxurious comfort and solitude to that which would otherwise be a vulgar frolic in the dirt.
Looks like a good time and an excellent turnout! Thanks for sharing...
Another successful NJ Winter Hang! Thanks for organizing this, Iafte. We had a little snow on the ground, and the low of 3 degrees was 19 degrees lower than last year.
I coached my son's basketball game and didn't get there till 6 pm last night, just in time for the excellent chow. I had to setup in the dark, but young Dan (Tinker), son of Blackfoot, was there to help me out. The ground was frozen solid, but NJRedneck loaned me a hammer so I could get the tarp staked out. Interestingly, the more robust my stakes (larger diameter), the more they bent when I hammered them. The thin, flimsy cheapo stakes that came with the Guide Gear 12x12 I bought last year were the only ones that didn't bend when being hammered into the frozen tundra.
After getting my new HG Winter Palace all staked out, somebody pointed out that the pull outs were on the inside - no way I was gonna tear it down. So I had to listen to folks telling me my tarp was inside out the rest of the evening - small price to pay to get my frozen fingers back in their gloves.
My Accurite thermometer hanging inside my tarp registered 5 degrees. SilentOrpheus hung his outside his tarp and registered 3 degrees. It was a cold night, and I have a new record low! My new 0 degree HG Incubator did a great job, but my 20* Burrow barely cut the grade. Looks like I need to add another top quilt to the arsenal for weather like this.
Looking forward to next year!

Snow, for a few hours. Moonlight, two nights. Blue skies and sunny days.
Good hanging friends.

I had a blast. It was great meeting all of you. Here's a few shots I took...
A few asked to watch me take the stove apart, but I ended up staying a while. So I took some pictures of me taking it down for you who were interested.
Thanks again to everyone who put this together. Had a great time meeting everyone looking forward to seeing everyone in the future.
Iafte, thank you for all the effort you put in planning this wonderful event. It was great meeting you and everyone else. The food was over the top (seafood chowder, sliders, rum balls and ALL the venison) I won't be eating for the next week to make up for my calorie intake...but it was worth it!
