I need some advice. I have made several SL and DL crinkle taffeta tablecloth hammocks and they have turned out well. I want to make a new DL one for a friend with a color that only comes in square tableclothes. My idea is to get three 90" square ones, cut one in half and sew those onto the other two pieces. That would give me two pieces 90"x135" minus the seam allowance. I need the hammock to be very strong since it is for a big guy.

These are my questions.
Is attaching the two pieces together, with a seam, weight bearing safe??
How many rows of stitches should I do at that connection seam?
Should I do a traditional seam or overlap the pieces and sew through them from the top? Would that make it stronger? I would rather not do this if unnecessary as the color will be hard to match with a strong thread.
Should I put the two seams at opposite ends of the hammock for strength?

The two complete layers will be sewn together for about 70" on each side. I would think this will also contribute to the strength of the hammock as some of the weight would be distributed to these seams.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
