I just completed my first DIY Gather End Hammock this weekend.
Thank You all who offered advice over my last few threads about needle size, threading, fabric, etc....
I believe the completed hammock would not have turned out as well if not for the help of ya'll. I really appreciate the assistance! The process going so well, and the end result so satisfactory, that I now think I will have a new hobby to drive the misses crazy.

I ended up with a 10' 4", 1.6 oz. single layer hammock. It is grey, almost silver so I will be naming this rig the "BED ZEPPELIN". Hems are ready for knotty mods and has 2.5 " channels. I installed a 108" SRL and used DIY Whoopie Slings and straps for the suspension. In all, total weight for the hammock and the suspension = 16.4 oz.!!!! I was hoping for sub 1lb, but it is close enough.
I couldn't be happier! Thanks again, everyone on HF for the support and assistance in making my first DIY Hammock project an Epic Success!

(I have pics, but need clues on how to get them in here... any help?)
I have posted some pics on my blog, you can see them there.
