People act like an *** for many things other than firearms.
One of the biggest ***-makers is ultralight gear.

Geeze, just because you don't want to pack something, doesn't
mean that other people can't enjoy a product because it weighs a little.

This is where everyone should respect others opinions, and just because
it is good for you, does not mean that the world needs to live up to your desires.

I do understand how firearms can be one of the most debated and most heated
topics on forums. It is a shame that this rule has come about, but honestly the
Moderators don't deserve to be refereeing pidly arguments about the same thing
daily. There are much more important things to do.

An armed society is a polite society, but forums about fire arms are not! I go to forums to learn but gun forums are full of @$$h0l3$. If you ask a question it you'll get ridiculed in ways I'm sure no one would if you where standing next to them with a rifle . I'll sure miss gun discussion here and I don't understand why it's gone, but its the mods site, so it's their rules. If you don't like it it is the World Wide Web I'm sure there is a sight somewhere on earth that'll work for you. If not mod your own sight any way you want. Does anyone know of a gun web sight that's friendly?

I think the mods do a great job (thanks guys!) Maybe its kinda like being a parent, some times its just easier to say no, than to have a lengthy debate on a controversial subject! ---which usually needs to be closely monitored so it doesn't get out of hand (even though the subject has merit)
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but for what its worth....

If you want to go to a gun forum that discusses guns but not hammocks, you can go to

    www.nationalgunforum.com
    www.gunsforums.com
    www.gunsforums.net
    www.thefiringline.com
    www.firearmstalk.com
    www.texasguntalk.com
    www.handgunforum.net
    www.thehighroad.org
    www.njgunforums.com
    www.thefirearmsforum.com
    www.gunboards.com
    www.firearmsdiscussion.com

    ....and dozens of others..

If, however, you want to go to a hammock forum and not talk about guns, this is your only choice and I, for one, appreciate it. I think the moderators here are a class above any other forum I have seen. It seems like the term political correctness gets inserted into many conversations as a negative term when someone wants to be inconsiderate of others.

Thanks to the moderators for keeping a forum running that sticks to the topic and does so in a respectful, civil manner.

I go to this site for their traditional archery forum. Try their firearms forums if you like. Their archery forum is full of friendly people. You may find their forums to your liking I hope.

Just wondering about a closed thread?

The only reason I started the "long range shooter" thread is because I have moved to a country with almost no gun ranges and even less long range shooters and wanted input about shooting a mile. I didn't and don't want to talk about guns. BUT I do now see how upset people get about the whole thing and I withdraw the question. This place is great and I can live without talking about spin drift at 1760 yards.

I can respect the rules without blaming mods for suppressing my rights. That is not what they are doing and their rationale is sound. I'm a mod on another recreation site where there is friendly discussion like this. We have rules too, some different, some the same.

Thanks to the membership and moderators for a fun and informative place to unwind.
