Becker Hollow Trail
(from the previous wiki link posted)
"The least popular route up Hunter is also the shortest ... the Becker Hollow Trail, which begins along Route 214 north of Stony Clove Notch. It is only 2.05 miles (3.3 km) to the summit from here, but the vertical ascent of 2,270 feet (692 m) is the greatest of any approach and as a consequence the trail is infamous for being a continuous upward slope with no level stretches. It can be followed either to the trail junction at the old fire tower site, but a short connector leads past a spring and directly to the summit."
I did this a few years back in late April. No level ground until the summit. Snowed and rained on the way up and down. Wet and slick. You climb the side of a ravine with a nice fall off into it, right from the trail...bonus!!! Great photos. This is not a trail for children or inexperienced hikers/backpackers. I would not use this trail in the Winter.
Was there last summer. Very tough hiking.
