Everyone start working on their blaze orange tarps now. And just make lots of noise around camp, shouldn't be a problem.

I was up at Yates Place the last weekend of Deer Season last year. There were a number of hunters there but also a number of spaces open. Everybody in camp was friendly and well behaved. While the camp sites are spread out along a trail sort of there are lots of trees behind the vault toilet. Park a number of cars at a site and spread out into the trees.
Hiked out to the UT and went south to do the Upper Dutchman's Loop.
Ran into two groups of hunters, saw some pickups on a trail, heard some shots and ran into a guy dragging a small deer out. Not much for a long day's hike - but everyone was friendly and I did have my orange hat on.
Hey, it's their woods also.
It all depends on if people want to camp near the cars and day hike or park and hike in.
im down for whatever yall just let me know what the deal is and the dates that work best for everyone
I go to uwharre several times a year to ride atv's. I usually camp on the trail and then go to the camp to shower. The campgrounds are really nice.

just curious anybody know any good kayak camping trips
makes you rethink a camo tarp
i fully agree and not complaining about them being there just thinking logistics about how much space.
i would say we stick close to the cars and plan a hike. i would bet there would be less hunting activity ( bullets flying ) and this way we can eat good too. I am a fat guy i usually think with my stomach.
There was a HF hang at Yate's Place back in 2010. Worked out great. Plenty of room, parking, bathroom, and picnic tables. Also, it is located at the halfway point of the Uwharrie Trail with access nobo or sobo. Also, Tower Rd (Dirt Road) crosses the trail right after Dark mountain and there are plenty of places to hang there, but no facilities. You can park right on the dirt road or there is a small unofficial lot off the road there.
