Just reminding you all that going through the south side of Helen to get to 75alt this weekend won't be optimal. Most everyone coming from I-85 or I-985 should probably go through Cleveland and take a right on 75alt west of town to get to the Richard Russell Scenic Hwy 348.
Ya'll have fun. I'll be in Covington with the Cub Scouts.
I don't think traffic will be much of a problem since Drunktoberfest is over now. But I could be wrong.
From Helen
Take GA 75 north from Helen for 1.5 miles. Turn left onto GA Alternate 75 and travel 2.3 miles to the Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway(Hwy 348). Turn right and travel 2.8 miles to the trailhead and parking area
From Cleveland
Take 129N past the high school. Turn right on Alt 75, go ? miles and turn left onto Richard Russell Scenic Hwy, follow direction above from there.

Dang. Came across this to late. Already heading out to elijay. Have fun guys!
Well, I was packed and ready to go but i've been at the animal shelter doing paperwork, walking the Husky I'm going to get...and its 1748 and its a 3.5-4hr drive to the hang.
Latest news: the hang went off right nice, beautiful in fact. Cool nights, warm enough days, clear skies, no rain. The best part, a whole lot of just good neighborly folks. I enjoyed meeting and getting to know a lot of people. The location could not have been better, Raven Cliffs Wilderness Area is a great place for a group hang, and I just wish more could have made the trip. OUTSTANDING!!
****.
Missed it.
Well, here's hoping I can get an eye on the next hang going on in my area. Helen would have been only a couple of hours drive.
This was my first hang and really enjoyable. It was awesome meeting the huge variety of people with a common passion. Everyone was more than willing to let a newbie like myself see their setup and ask all the stupid questions. The generosity of this group is unmatched. Special thanks to those who brought extra hammocks for my family to share.
Hey Ladies - I'm new to hanging & would love to do a group hang. Don't want to be the only lady hanger in the group & was hoping there were some ladies out there who wanted to do a GA hang.
