It looks great. I have been planning / designing an UQ and this is helpful. That calculator spreadsheet is awesome!! What is your length x wide and how much down did you use? I am targeting a 20 degree down UQ with 60x48 dimensions. I am curious though why you chose the 'notched' approach to the channels as well. Where the diagonal seems on the corners just for re-enforcment on the right angle cuts for the channels?
Only 2 questions.
1. Where did you get that huge bag of down?
2. How much did that much down cost?
Nice job! I really need to get myself working on my DIY to-do list.
I got the down from www.downlinens.com. They sell by the pound and that big bag is 1 lb. They have many different options to choose from so the price varies, but you can see them all on their website.
Well.. all of this information is in the album, but anyway... The dimensions are 40" x 50", and I used a total of 7.5 oz of down (0.75 oz per baffle except the middle 3 which have 1 oz each). The notches are so that I could hem the raw edges to have less raw edge exposed in the end. And yes for the last question.
Very nice tutorial.

GG, I confess when I saw "my first ..." and "tutorial" in the thread title, I was thinking oxymoron, but you were wise to presume to teach us, because you've got plenty to offer to us nubes. Fantastic job. You've got a future. Stick around.
Exceptional writeup, but now you have me waiting on your top quilt tutorial
