    Need a big tarp

I have a Claytor Jungle Hammock that I am very pleased with. But it's rain tarp is just too skimpy. I need a lot more dry/shady space under the tarp than this thing makes. Why am I so special? Because I'm not a backpacker, I'm a goat packer. I have 3 pack goats who carry all my stuff. This is great, but there is more gear to keep dry (pack saddles and panniers). I have started leaving the hammock's puny little tarp at home and have been taking a 9x12 plastic tarp for me and an 8x10 for the goats (too small) instead. These tarps work ok by they are too bulky. A sil-nylon tarp would be better, I think. I have a 10x10 nylon tarp from Campmor that is ok, but it has all these ties sewn all over it, each of which leaks a bit in serious rain.

I actually need 2 such tarps, one for me and the gear, and one for the goats to hang out under.

    Any suggestions?

Here are some pics of a recent trip.

Ahhhh, you need to get your goats hooked up with Cannibals donkeys! I have a Cabellas Tarp- 12x16 that covers alot of real estate. Check that out.

Check out Chinook Tarps, they come in a variety of sizes up to 12x14' and they're fairly inexpensive. The place I got mine from (Ambient Outdoors) doesn't have them in stock right now, but google shopping brings up a few dozen other places to get them from.

Ok, I really need to know how to turn goats into pack animals.... I planned on getting goats. Getting 2 or 3 more as pack animals woud be pretty awesome quite honestly. As long as them and the dogs get alon it'd be cool lol. Dunno how well Australian Shepards would get along with goats though. But the dogs would likely be great at keeping the goats rounded up.

I have a 10x10 and a 15x15 from Dan Cooke. These are flat tarps (not catenary-cut) and can be pitched in numerous configurations. Very durable and well-sewn.

I sometimes use a Kelty Noah's tarp (the 12x12) which is either a huge symmetrical diamond or can be setup a bunch of different ways (lots of tie-off points). It is a little heavy (although I doubt this is a concern for you) but very heavy duty and cat-cut to boot.

As for your existing tarp - I suggest some seam sealer Sounds like a good tarp

Just mentioned these in another thread but the DD XL is a handy bit of kit.
