I'd really like to see a date for this-something preferably a drive up to & hang, as someone else posted. My GF doesnt hang, nor camp, really-I plan on getting her involved slowly this year though!
Well, my husband and I are backpackers...but feel equally comfortable car camping cause...you can bring IT ALL!!! Our last hang had us bring a 40lb propane tank for our coleman. It was a hit! Just let us know which direction this will go and we will pack accordingly. Love MASS and would love to see Skypainter again!

OK sounds like a plan for a group site at a campground then. How does the first weekend in May sound?
Good or No Good
====> Sounds fine so far with me! May 6,7,8 maybe? Glad I bought the full bug suit here....the Black Flies might be out and about, getting their landing lights installed.
Let's tentatively put the first weekend in May out there as a target - we can adjust based on weather and the like as we get closer in the year.
Have we decided WHERE we would be hanging yet? I owe The Chocolatier some hot peppers and hot sauces - hope you can make this one, Rich! And would also love to hang with the JerzyBears again, too!

Wow! I had no idea there were so many New England area members. I would love a weekend meeting and will start watching this thread. Western MA is a longer drive than something more towards central or even the Pioneer Valley for those closer to Boston or coming down from parts of NH. The group campsite/campground idea leaves more possibilites open for a potluck meal or two as well as some gear-making demos and pop-up for shared day shelters, etc. Cars nearby also allows for escape from the elements should the weather turn nasty...

Group
Here are some rules that you need to read. Most do not apply to us as we are on the group site but I will highlight in red what is.
We can hold up to 25 people with out any additional fee. We can max ourselves at 50 but there is an additional fee of $5.00 per person over 25 people.
- Pets are not permitted in the cabins or on the cabin sites.
- Cabins 5, 6 and 7 are wheelchair accessible.
- Mohawk Trail State Forest is Black Bear country. Campers must comply with all wildlife guidelines at the park level. Bears are regular visitors to this campground. Bears are wild and can be dangerous. To protect your family and your property, keep all food, coolers, and cooking supplies and equipment in your vehicle or food storage locker when not in use. Do not keep food or toiletries, which could attract bears in to your tent or pop-up camper. Please do not feed the bears.
- Respect the 14-day camping limit. To ensure that many campers enjoy our parks, campers and camping equipment are limited to 14 cumulative days occupancy in any one park between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Violators of the 14-day limit may be asked to leave the park.
- Don't overcrowd you campsite. Please limit site occupancy to four people or one family (parents and children 17 or under). Please limit site equipment to two tents or one trailer or RV and one tent. Also, please no more than two vehicles per campsite.
- Check-in time is 1:00 P.M.; Check-out time is 11:00 A.M.
- Quiet hours are 10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.
- Pets are welcome in most campgrounds, but please keep them restrained, clean up after them, never leave them unattended and prevent them from disturbing others. Also, you must bring proof of rabies vaccination when camping with your pet. Pets are prohibited from designated beach areas, Boston Harbor Islands, Camp Nihan and all yurt and cabin sites.
- Massachusetts law requires that children age 16 and under wear a helmet when bicycling. The MA DCR encourages all cyclists to wear a helmet and to cycle safely.
- Please do not feed wild animals.
I would like to know who is going to be able to come, so to make it fair to everyone the first 25 people to say that they are coming will not incur the $5.00 fee, the 26th through 50th will need to pay the fee. This is a state fee and not mine. Any one that would like to come that is over the 50 will need to get a camp site and I would recommend sites 36-56 as those are some nice sites down there.
This is not an event, we are just a group of friends coming to have a weekend get together (I needed to say this for legal purposes).
If you plan on attending please post it here and the # attending. I will keep a list of people in the order that they come in, and send you a PM so I can get your real name/names for the Park for pre registration.

I am in. Thanks for taking the lead.
I plan on doing long, very slow-paced day hikes with lots of picture-taking stops on both Friday and Saturday & anyone is welcome to join me.

Love my JRB BMB
When posting your "will attend":
1) Please note the number of people in your party. I need this to keep track of the number of attendees. If there are 2 in your party then you will have 2 numbers with you name on them (exp. genegene = 2, = 1) genegene, 2) genegene etc...
2) What day you plan on arriving
3) Watch this thread. This way you can keep uptodate on plans and activities.
Thanks,
Gene G.
