    Watch movies in your hammock!

I took my Clark along this Labor Day weekend up to the in-law's place so I could avoid the crazy crowding that happens at these family gatherings... people sleeping everywhere, beds, couches, floors, etc. Meanwhile I'm snug as a bug outside in my hammock!
Anyway, I loaded up my iPod Touch with some movies and brought it along. The first night after trying to watch a movie for awhile, lying on my back holding it up in front of my face, I realized this was not conducive to comfort and relaxation. My arms were getting pretty tired.
I grabbed some 550 cord and a knife out of my pack. Two minutes later I was lying back in the hammock watching a movie sans-hands.

This is the out-in-the-woods version of hi-def home theater!

Adjustable for both viewing angle and view distance. It's strung over the ridgeline I added inside the Clark.

Friday night's feature was A Fistful of Dollars. Last night was For a Few Dollars More. Tonight will be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It's a Man with No Name weekend!

When I go backpacking, I bring an iTouch along as my one luxury item. Since, I normally go solo and don't build a camp fire, it's nice to watch a movie before turning-in. I can usually watch 2 movies on one battery charge. I like your 'hands-free' setup!

For extended movie viewing on longer hiking trips here is an awesome link
to several commercial and DIY ipod chargers worth mentioning.
I made the altoids one but im thinking of buying one of the cheap 2 x AA ones.

Man I'm somehow glad that I'm not the only one that's packed an ipod or iphone with a movie for the night!

Since I've got my iPhone along for the ride to the site ... and off in my pack ... I've usually just uploaded a DVD (vis cucusoft) or maybe an iPhone movie rental. I like the 550 cord hanger ... that's a good idea.

I've usually got a 3GJuice backup that assures I won't burn through my battery in case I actually need the phone before I get back to the Jeep.

Usually I just enjoy being in Linville Gorge but that one trip was alone and it was kind of nice to watch a movie ... enjoy a hot cup of tea and lounge till time to snooze between the trees!

I take my PSP to play games plus the added benefit of watching a movie or 2 especially if its raining. I tie it in pretty much the same way.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I got in some new gear and was out playing with it in the front yard this weekend. One item I got was a 3/4 length underquilt from Jacks R Better. They have an interesting way to attach and adjust it and it gave me the idea of hanging my iPhone from the ridge line. I took some pictures so I could post it on the Hammock Forums but you beat me to it. I just got a crank handle charger so hanging my iPhone allows me to watch something while recharging the phone. I like my new charger but haven't used it on a trip yet. Last time the only AA iPhone recharger I could find to work did a fine job but I had to carry several batteries to make sure I could keep a charge. I rely on my iPhone for several things while hiking including maps so I really want to keep it charged.
