    I love a good deal

I didn't know where to put this, but just had to share a good find.

I was in Sports Authority in Des Moines and noticed they had all Coleman stuff with the price ending in .97 on sale for 50% off.

The only thing I saw that I needed (read wanted) where some tent stakes. They are the tri-wing stakes that look like MSR Ground Hogs.

They were marked at $4.97 per 4 pack, which made them $2.48! I bought three packages, but should have bought them all.

I saw these at K-mart the other day. They looked to be about an inch longer than the MSR Groundhogs I have. I didn't buy them because I questioned the quality. Some of the Coleman stuff is pretty cheesy.

Do you think they are as strong as the MSR stakes?

Nice score - definitely longer than the ground hogs.

I absolutely love my ground hogs. Since I took the idea of a fellow HF member and attached my figure 9's directly to the stakes, they have contributed to crazy quick tarp pitches.

Do you have a picture of how they are attached to the stakes? I like the idea

My stakes have a cord attached. I just simply looped the cord through the attachment eye on the figure 9. I decided I like the figure 9 on the guyout cord so that I have it handy to adjust if I tie off to something other than a stake.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I dont have a pic, but it's pretty simple - my MSR's came with a small loop of cord tied to them - you just tie the figure 9 off the same way you would with any loop of cord. Pass the cord through the hole in the figure 9, and flip it around the 9, then pull it tight. It works the same way as how you attach the 9 in the middle of a line. Hope that makes sense.

These are 9" long (just measured them).

I haven't ever had any of the MSR's so I can't say how they measure up. But I can say that I tried to bend them and while I didn't put all my strength into it, they did not bend under a reasonable amount of pressure.

I do have some Kelty no-bendum's which I can bend pretty easy compared to these Colemans.

I figured for 62 cents each I would take a chance on them.

I have some figure 9's and will try to attach a couple as suggested and take a couple pictures. Sounds like a good idea.
