Big Bend Natl Park on March 6-8

My father is going to spend the winter in his RV somewhere in the Big Bend area. I plan to visit him sometime during the winter. I've never been there.

Anyone interested in picking a time and place to hang in Big bend National Forest?

    It's not a National Forest, it's a National Park.

Trees are pretty hard to come by, except in the floodplain of the Rio Grande (cottonwood, salt cedar, and willow). Dunno what the NPS allows/disallows vis-a-vis hammocks and/or camping outside of designated sites.

    Great park!

I'm interested, depending on the timing.

The timing has to avoid Christmas, New Years, Mt. Rogers, Myrtle Beach Golf at the end of February, and Easter. What else?

Perhaps we could do it on a weekend in early February.

I think you covered the big ones.

Big Bend is a destination that I've meant to visit for years, but keep putting off in favor of other trips. A dedicated visit sounds great.

Looks like a National Park to me. Not arguing, just saying.

Sounds like a good place to perfect our Treeless Hanging methods. Maybe I can develop the Prairie Travois Hammock Tee Pee by then, with cover, fire hole and porch flys.

OH that looks so cool! I've gotta try that, i wonder how you'd manage a tarp over that?
