National Hardware Brand welded steel rings are SWL rated to 300#. @ 1.5" dia. Highest of the hardware store rings I have seen. Lowes 1.5" dia are only rated for 200# if I remember right. You gotta watch those rings. The quality is widely variable from brand to brand.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

So the bowlines will not hold on the end connected to the hammock?

I had tied double fishermans loops on the end that was in the channel and one of the loops slipped out and down I went. It's all good now though, I've improved on that knot

I don't exactly know the brand, but in a few of the rings I noticed there were slivers of where I guess it hadnt been completely welded together. Dont trust that for long term use.

I use an anchor hitch. Basically 2 loops through the rings and a bow line. Tied a little loose around the rings. Leave some play in the rings, it makes them a lot easier to use.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Yeah, they will. You just have to pull the loop through the channel end before finishing the knot. In a whipped end hammock you would just make a larks head with it and connect it to the hammock. I'm sure there are other knots you could use and get a cleaner look with less rope but my Grampa didn't teach me those, he taught me bolines . So now I can lay in my hammock looking at all my bowlines and half hitches and think about when my late Grampa taught me them to me.

How did you end up tying it? Enquiring minds want to know.
