Thanks for the idea. I happen to have both sizes of amsteel and the next two nights off, so I think I might attempt this

Where do you buy these rings? I looked at onrope1 and the rings aren't rated for life support.
smc rap rings, avail from various places online. i think you can get them directly from smc. pmi sells them too.
cinch buckles are nice because you don't need the backup knot.
Thanks...found this:

Think I am going the cinch buckle route.
Thanks for your help!
Does the clark have a channel for the rope to go through? If so, you could tie it like I did my old Skeeter Beater Pro; I used bolines. When the rabbit comes out of the hole have him go through the the channel before going around the tree and back down the hole. Make sure you put your larks head around your rings first (I used a boline for my rings too).

Lol! Thanks Beast I got it figured out. I am however using rings that I bought from a hardware store and don't even know what they are rated to hold. I just recently ordered some of those descending rings from summit hut, so will switch them out when they get here just to be on the safe side
^^^I remember reading a post from someone who made an unplanned descent to Mother Earth when one of those rings had a blowout. Hang low, Sarah.
I found a bunch of rings at Tractor Supply that actually had a stated WLL...they weren't very high. Interestingly, though, the brass rings were rated significantly higher than the welded steel. Seems like they were in the 300# range.
