Thanks Pizza and Hooch. I had to take my wife into town today for a doctors appointment. Baby is growing good Yup the top cover will help to hold in the heat on the cool nights better so than the bug netting alone. I am making them out of uncoated (ie. breathable) 1.1 oz ripstop nylon. I will have pictures of the grey up on my site -probably tomorrow moning. The gery is a nice color, it's lighter than the green-grey that the BB is done in, but I think it complemnts the BB well. Should be good with the OD green of the 1.7 BB as well. I have also made a couple little tweaks to the desighn since I did up the video. They are minor changes that will mostly go unseen but will help with preformance and durability. The major visible change is a end cap of fabric were the shock cord exits the ends, this makes the top cover look a little slicker (I think ) but it also makes the attachment point a bit stronger. I might also get in some more colors for these over the next few weeks as I can get ahead of the orders.

The Marine in me likes that MARPAT digital camo you're using for those. Good stuff.

I'm just wondering here.... On my clark, my weathershield can stay attached at one tiny point and all the material of the weathershield can be tucked into a small pocket that's made for it to go into. I'm able to keep the weathershield there and deploy anytime I feel like it.
How do you with the weathershield on your BB's, what do you do with it when you want it but you don't want it right now.

Where I am making my top cover as a aftermarket accessorie for the BB there is a limited amount of "built in" desighn that I can do. Short of having everyone send my their hammock to sew on a stuff sack, I have to leave my top cover as totaly detachable. I like the idea that clark has tried to offer with their desighn. But for me this is the sort of accessorie that will go on a lot of trips and not on others. It dose come in a small stuff sack and I can get one on or off of my BB in about 1 minute.

I like to stake out the hammock and get it all tweaked the way I want it to hang then pull the top cover out and hook up the foot end, the head end then attatch the lines through the wing openings back to the stakes you have set. Then I go back to the wing openings and seal up the no snag velcro. (I did do it just slightly backwards in the video) I do plan on doing a bit of an updated vid in the next couple weeks though.

I have been searching for black in the untreated fabrics but have not been able to find much yet. I do have a sorce for DWR black, but in my descusions with Fin about using DWR fabrics he said that we would have to have a vent to deal with condensation. I decided for the top cover I wanted to keep it as simple as posible and stuck with the breathable -un coated fabric. I am wroking on a desighn for a full sock for the BB that will use some DWR and some untreated fabric with a vent, but that is still out a few weks at least.
