    Lounger Sleeper Hammock Design

Hey guys I've come up with an idea for a hammock that combines the comforts of a bridge hammock and gathered end. Tell me what you think. Any suggestions welcome I still have not put this into fab.

    Interesting concept.

What do you perceive as being the benefit of having a gathered-end for the foot half? Is it only to eliminate a spreader bar there?

I played with a similar concept although not as sophisticated when I had my Dual Mode Bridge. I found it had the disadvantages of both and the advantages of neither. Beyond that it was a while ago and I don't fully remember the problems. All I remember for sure is _I_ didn't like it. That and fiver will get you a latte at Starbucks.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I perceive the benefits being strictly for space saving. I live in a very small dorm room and space is very limited. I sleep with my legs crossed according to an ex-girlfriend so there is no need for extra space at my feet. Here's my current set up. If I swing at all I either hit the dresser or the desk. The bed is my roommates and the room is only 13ft x 15 ft.

Slowhike uses a spreader bar in his DIY Speer type hammock, just to ease shoulder squeeze, I beleeve. You have to see it... it looks a lot better than you would think!

What's the point of the sit-up section? For a recliner, most folks sit sideways instead.

Having a little Cheerwine withdrawal there Shug? When we lived in Pa ... we use to "smuggle" a couple cases back every trip home!

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

I use my hammock for everything including studying and watching tv. The idea in the sit up section is i dont have to have another rope to beable to put my feet up like a recliner yet still sit like i'm in one. I don't have much room between my hammock and my roommate's bed.

I've been thinking about exactly the same thing. For me the reason would be to accommodate a tarp in really bad weather. As Grizz points out the best way to beat the wind when it's cold is to close one end of the tarp with grip clips and face that end into the wind. That's fine for a gathered-end hammock but a bridge is not narrow enough to allow closing the ends. But of course only one end needs to be closed, hence something like this.
